Note:
Home shirt as worn by Boca Juniors during the 2001–02 season, one of the most consistent and competitive eras in the club’s history. After lifting the Copa Libertadores in 2000 and 2001, Boca entered this campaign under intense pressure to maintain their continental dominance and domestic strength.
Although they were eliminated in the 2002 Copa Libertadores semi-finals by Santos, Boca remained a force in Argentina, finishing top of their group in the 2001 Apertura and continuing to produce elite talents like Carlos Tevez, who began emerging during this period. This shirt features Nike’s distinctive early-2000s template, famously worn at La Bombonera, where Boca’s fearsome home record remained intact.
In late 2001, Maradona wore an Argentina shirt in his farewell match at La Bombonera. During the match, he took off his jersey to reveal another one he was wearing underneath: Riquelme’s Boca Juniors 2001-02 shirt with the number 10, as his successor.
